We went to Kovalam, a Keralan restaurant. (Kerala is a province in
the
south of Indian bordering the sea.) The restaurant is somewhat visible
at the far right in this
picture I took when walking around the area near my apartment.
| Kerala king prawn curry, with roasted onions, tomatoes, and spices.
This dish was delicious, and my favorite of the things we ordered.
| Fish moli: "kingfish cooked in coconut milk, with onion, green chilli,
ginger, tomato, and curry leaves." While decent, it was my least
favorite dish because it tasted so strongly of coconut (from the milk).
Oddly, I found this dish the spiciest of those we ordered. I liked the
odor of the curry leaves.
| Lamb jalfrezy (not a dish native to Kerala): "lamb with chilli, ginger,
capsicum, and herbs." Good. Slightly spicy, with a complex blend of
spices.
