| Breakfast at Clementi Town Centre Hawker Centre

|
|
| The stall from which I ordered fish rice porridge (a.k.a. congee).
| Rice porridge with fish, soaked fried dough (you tiao), and pickled, hard
yellow vegetables (zha cai).

| Lunch at Minang in the Arab Quarter
|
|
|
|
|
| Minang, the Malaysian place where we had lunch. Established 1954. If you
look closely, you can see the tables, all on the sidewalk.
| The menu.
| Clockwise from upper-left: gravy, beef rendang (sweet, clove-y), sambal
fish, and tahu goreng (deep-fried tofu with bean sprouts and cucumbers in
a peanut sauce). Everything was good.
| Lime juice. Good.

|
| Bengawan Solo,
a nyonya pastry shop we patronized to try a few items suggested by our
friend.
| Kueh kosui, a sticky rice cake covered with coconut flakes.
|
We also tried talam hijau (?) (a sticky, green-and-white-layered kueh) and
pandan chiffon cake (basically, a green angel food cake). The latter item
was definitely the one we appreciated the most.
| Di Yin was hungry and wanted to try some bak kuh teh (pork rib soup) from
the nearby hawker center. I tried some. It's much like pho except made
from pork, not beef.

Sorry, I didn't take pictures when we ate dinner at our friend's place
near Clark Quay.
