February 28th 2008: Flying to Boston

Getting to the airport was exciting. I had planned to take the bus as usual. As I crossed the intersection to the bus stop, the bus pulled up to the light. I ran to the stop. Close call! The bus was running one minute early. (Of course, I had backup plans in case I missed the bus.)

In a nearly full flight, I had an empty middle seat next to me--one of the joys of selecting a seat near the last minute.

After we took off, U.S. Air played five minutes of commercials, with sound, for itself on the video screens. How annoying. They then played promotional material for the in-flight movie.

For lunch, I had a red pear, two breakfast bars I made myself, and a sandwich (mmmmm: chipotle hummus and roasted peppers) I stole from work.

I transferred in Philadelphia. Philadelphia's airport felt like a major transit center. I was surprised to see a shopping mall in the airport, including stores such as the Gap and Brookstone.

I grabbed dinner in Philadelphia at Chik-Fil-A, a place I chose because I remembered a friend of mine would sometimes drive two hours from the bay area to go to the nearest of this fast food joint's locations. I had a moist, decent enough, breaded original chicken sandwich, and some undercooked waffle fries.
