August 11th 2007: Pistahan (Filipino) Festival and Indonesian Day Festival

The two movies are from the Indonesian Day Festival.

One movie is a 360-degree panorama of Union Square and the crowds within. With skyscrapers above this public space, it has a similar feel to Yerba Buena, though Union Square was definitely more crowded. Notice how the music is inaudible from this part of the square--the sound system was horrible.

The other movie is of a bedecked dancer.

Despite how the order of these pictures makes it appear, I actually left the Filipino Festival in the middle to explore the Indonesian one, then returned.

There are movies associated with this collection.

Filipino Festival
A panorama of Yerba Buena from the top of its waterfall. This picture
gives a better perspective of the place's feel than any of the pictures
or panoramic videos from my past trip to Yerba
Buena. (Note: Yerba Buena was more crowded on my past trip,
where I attended Israel in the Gardens, partially explaining why this
picture came out better.) View the full-sized image.
The garden's wide waterfall from below. At Israel in the Gardens, it
couldn't be seen due to the booths lining the sidewalk.
The stand from which I bought the first half of my lunch.
Sisig: grilled meat (traditionally pig's head) with jalapenos over rice.

Indonesian Festival
One interesting menu at the Indonesian festival. I've actually eaten at
this restaurant before.
Another menu (mostly of side dishes I think) from the same restaurant.
I'm not sure if this is more interesting because of the number of items
I've never heard of, or less interesting because of the lack of
descriptions of anything.
Some menus from another restaurant. I've eaten previously at this
restaurant as well.

In Between The Festivals
Unusual glass fixtures project from this building. Funky. Despite
looking, I couldn't figure out what this building is. It's adjacent to
the under construction Contemporary Jewish Museum, but I don't think
they're related.
