August 5th 2006: Ferrying to North Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay, Lynn Canyon, Grouse Mountain, and Fireworks Competition (Mexico)

Most of this day's trips were outside and sadly some of the pictures didn't come out too well -- my camera doesn't capture the contrast between a sunny sky and a shaded forest well. Nearly all the movies are of Mexico's entry into the fireworks competition. Viewing them full screen is, of course, best.

The only non-fireworks movies are a video of the river/rapids in Lynn Canyon and a faint movie of the boats proceeding back to their docks. All one can see is the many lights from boats, not the boats themselves. Yet the video at least gives an idea of the large number of the boats involved.

There are movies associated with this collection.

The view from the top of Grouse Mountain to Burrard Inlet and North
Vancouver. This image also is proof that I climbed to exactly the top
of the mountain where the gondola goes, as seen in this previous picture.
More of the same. Look at the river sparkle!

Looking west at Capilano River. It almost makes me think of a fjord.

Fireworks Competition: Mexico
I don't know if the zigs are from my hand shaking or from the fireworks
themselves. I think the former is likely.

Another big cluster of fireworks.I wonder why the picture has a glowing
haze. I don't think it's smoke.
