June 11th 2006 - Italian Street Painting FestivalI will generally let these pictures stand for themselves. Luckily I visited at the end of the festival and nearly every picture was finished. And they were impressive, not just in the sheer number of pieces of artwork but also in the quality. Many of these paintings could and should be sold for substantial sums. Sadly, demonstrating the transience of life and art, they would all be washed away at the end of the weekend. Happily, they were documented by myself and countless other photographers attending this event. In fact, a sizable percentage of the visitors had cameras. And the event also had a professional photographer with a ladder and contraption that allowed high-quality images with the correct perspective. One more note before you view all the pictures: to properly demonstrate the scope of this festival, I made sure to take one photograph of every cluster of paintings. Thus, every photograph that includes many (more than three) paintings is a different cluster. Since you'll see many of these pictures here, most of which have at least half a dozen paintings and many contain well over a dozen paintings, you can tell there were hundreds of paintings here. Since there were so many paintings, I only took occasional pictures of individual ones that really struck me. Also, since it's sometimes hard to notice the scale, many of the individual pictures I photographed are something like six feet by eight feet.
