Lunch at Hotel Priya's Restaurant
The cheap, casual eatery where we had lunch. I think it's simply called
the restaurant attached to Hotel Priya. If you view the full-sized
image, you can read the list of items in the thali lunch. For
reference, we did not stay in this hotel.
Another perspective of the same joint.
Clockwise from left:
chapati - greasy
rice
rasgulla (a clear, sweet ball eaten for dessert, not unlike gulab jamun except without the dairy component) - a bit dry. didn't fall apart.
curd with lentils (?) - simultaneously very sour and very sweet!
paneer curry - decent enough. with a thick sauce.
potato curry - decent enough. I preferred the paneer curry.
red onions
chutney

  • Browsing Jodhpur
A busy street in Jodhpur. Like some other pictures from this trip, it
really captures the essence of an Indian city.
Inside the densely packed English-language section of the used
bookstore we browsed for a while.

If you view a larger image, you can read the names of a bunch of the
authors they have.

    Samosa Stand
The crowd by the samosa stand.
A video showing samosas being freshly made. These guys look like
they're having fun. :)
My good samosa, served piping hot and thus wrapped in a newspaper for my
protection.

    Dinner at Midtown Vegetarian Restaurant
Midtown Vegetarian Restaurant, where we had dinner.
Navratan korma. We actually had to send this back because the cream
split.
Kabuli is a specialty of Jodhpur and one of this restaurant's specialties.
It's vegetables baked with rice, milk, pieces of bread, and fruits. Had
a kick in places. I liked it. One vegetable was that weird root again (arrowroot?), but could simply be
potato I suppose.
As we served the kabuli, I realized there was another layer under the
rice. This is a cutaway picture of the dish from the side.

    Train Station
Jodhpur's snazzy train station. It definitely looks more modern than
all others we saw.
